What Is the Difference Between a Job and a Career?
One of the biggest questions people ask themselves when looking at their future relates to the differences there are between having a job and having a career. While to many it may seem there is little to no difference, nothing can be farther from the truth.
Jobs vs. Careers
Having a job, while offering some degree of financial security, is simply an opportunity to make money without much room for advancement. There is usually no passion or upward mobility involved, and a job can grow to become tedious after some time. Having just a job, in many instances can lead to dead ends. This tends to happen often in the retail and restaurant industry unless you know how to turn it into a career.
On the other hand, a career, for starters, is about doing what you love, regardless of your chosen field. A career requires a set of unique skills that can easily set you apart from the pack while offering continuous growth and advancement as you climb the ladder that can lead you to the place you want to go. A career will also provide emotional fulfillment and requires a deep love and passion for what you will be doing, sometimes for the rest of your life.
